Aishwarya Rai and Aaradhya attend the Chennai screening

On Sunday, the cast of Ponniyin Selvan I, including Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, and others, along with their loved ones, gathered in Chennai to watch the film. Aishwarya was joined by her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan at the occasion, which was also attended by Mani Ratnam’s wife Suhasini.

Suhasini is also a well-known actor who continues to feature in Tamil films. A picture from the event depicts Aishwarya, Aaradhya, and Suhasini posing together. Aishwarya chose a modest denim shirt and black tights for the screening at the Sathyam Cinemas, in contrast to her elaborate typical appearances during film promotion in heavy Anarkali outfits and jewelry.

Additionally, a group photo depicts everyone in one frame. Mani Ratnam poses with his wife Suhasini, Aishwarya, and Aaradhya, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Vikram Prabhu for the camera.

Ponniyin Selvan I was launched in theatres on Friday and surpassed 150 crores in worldwide gross receipts within two days. Aishwarya plays Puzhuvoor queen Nandini, wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and past love interest of Adithya Karikalan. Vikram portrays Adithya Karikalan, the crown prince of the Chola. Aishwarya and Vikram have also co-starred in the film Raavan by Mani Ratnam.

Jayam Ravi portrays his brother Arulmozhi Varman, who goes on to become Raja Raja Chola I, in the film. Trisha is Kundavai, their sister. Karthi portrays Vikram’s on-screen companion Vanthiyathevan, the warrior prince of the Vaanar Clan. In the film, Vikram Prabhu portrays Parthibendra Pallavan’s other friend, Vikram Prabhu. It is based on the 1955 novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
