Ajay Devgn mourns demise of ‘timeless actor’ Dilip Kumar

Dilip Kumar, renowned for his role as Tragedy King, died early Wednesday morning, July 7, 2021. He was 98 years old at the time.

Ajay Devgn, a Bollywood actor who had had some “extremely intimate” moments with the late star, joined a sea of fans, friends, and film industry figures to pay respect to the late idol and honor his legacy. Devgn took to social media to share a throwback photo of himself and Kumar, as well as express his astonishment and grief in a post that said, “I had several memorable encounters with the great, some of which were extremely personal and others which took place on stage. Nothing, however, could have prepared me for his death. A timeless actor, an institution. Heartbroken.”

He said, “Deepest condolences to Sairaji.”

Dr. Jaleel Parkar, a pulmonologist who was treating the renowned actor, confirmed Dilip Kumar’s death. Faisal Farooqi, the actor’s spokesman, also posted the sad news on the late star’s Twitter account.

“I announce the loss of our dear Dilip Saab, who passed away a few minutes ago, with a sad heart and great grief. We come from God and return to Him “Farooqi sent out a tweet.

Kumar was taken to the hospital a few days earlier after complaining of shortness of breath.

Kumar made a six-decade contribution to Indian film. He appeared in over 65 films over his career, including “Devdas” (1955), “Naya Daur” (1957), “Mughal-e-Azam” (1960), “Ganga Jamuna” (1961), “Kranti” (1981), and “Karma” (1986).

Saira Banu, the movie icon’s wife, and actress had previously stated that his health was stable but that he would not be freed until later. Ten days after being discharged, he was admitted to a city hospital’s critical care unit due to a complaint of breathlessness as a preventive measure.

His most recent picture, ‘Qila,’ was released in 1998.

His wife, the renowned actress Saira Banu, survives him.
