Neetu Kapoor skipped the awards ceremony because she couldn’t attend without Rishi Kapoor

Neetu Kapoor, who has appeared in four films with her late husband Rishi Kapoor, is making a return with JugJugg Jeeyo. In a recent interview, she discussed the experience of shooting without him.

Neetu Kapoor, who lost her spouse Rishi Kapoor in April 2020, claimed that she still struggles to accomplish things on her own in the absence of the late star. Neetu said that she even skipped a recent award ceremony because she felt uncomfortable attending alone.

Neetu met Rishi when she was 15 years old. After appearing together in successes like Rafoo Chakkar, Khel Khel Mein, and Amar Akbar Anthony, the couple married in 1980. Neetu stopped performing a few years after they married. Since then, she has participated in four films, all of which starred Rishi: Love Aaj Kal (2009), Do Dooni Chaar (2010), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), and Besharam (2013). Neetu will now make her cinematic debut with JugJugg Jeeyo, which she describes as the first film she hasn’t done as a favor to Rishi since leaving the business.

In an interview with PTI, Neetu said that it was tough for her to perform without Rishi after such a long period. She further said that she still feels the urge to have the late actor, or their son Ranbir Kapoor, by her side whenever she leaves the house for a film occasion.

When she started working on JugJugg Jeeyo, she uploaded a picture of herself strolling alone outside the house on the first day she appeared on the show. I’m convinced he was blessing me by making my life easier. However, it was difficult not to behave with him. It was difficult. Even now, I am unable to attend an event. I can go to a shoot without him, but I can’t go to a film event without him. I was recently asked to a large event where they intended to present me with an award, but I can’t attend without him. I’m hesitant to travel alone. That confidence is still lacking in me.”

Neetu remarked, “I need the presence of my child or husband in my life.” Perhaps it will take some time for me to get accustomed to that portion. As an actor, I can go to work because my crew is with me, and I feel safe. But not otherwise, and not just now.”

JugJugg Jeeyo, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Tisca Chopra, will be released in theatres on June 24. Raj Mehta directed the film, which was co-produced by Viacom18 Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
