Om premieres at the same level as Vidyut Jammwal’s Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 on its first day of box office receipts

Khuda Haafiz

Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II – Agni Pariksha, starring Vidyut Jammwal, has had a slow start at the box office. According to Pinkvilla, it earned around Rs 1.5 crore on its first day of release. The figures are comparable to the opening day of Aditya Roy Kapur’s action film Rashtra Kavach Om last week.

Agni Pariksha is a direct sequel to Vidyut’s 2020 film Khuda Haafiz, which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar during the pandemic. Faruk Kabir directs both films, which also star Shivaleeka Oberoi.

This year, action films have struggled to attract audiences, with several high-profile films, including Dhaakad, Rashtra Kavach Om, and Heropanti 2, tanking at the box office. Khuda Haafiz 2 has received mixed reviews. In her review for The Indian Express, Shubhra Gupta gave it two stars out of five, calling it a “Vidyut Jammwal jamboree.”

Audiences continue to flock to Dharma’s romantic drama JugJugg Jeeyo, which grossed around Rs 80 lakh on Friday. The film, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor, was released in theaters on June 24 and has so far grossed over Rs 80 crore domestically. It is the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year.

Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder will likely be the weekend’s top pick. The superhero film grossed Rs 18 crore on its first day of release — a Thursday — and is expected to do exceptionally well over the weekend, thanks to solid bookings.
