Shilpa Shetty’s embroiled in her husband’s pornography case

MUMBAI: On Friday, the Mumbai crime branch searched star Shilpa Shetty’s Juhu home in connection with a pornographic case involving her husband Raj Kundra.

Shilpa Shetty was a director of Viaan Industries, which is being investigated by Kundra. Shilpa Shetty’s testimony about when and why she resigned from her job was videotaped by a police squad. Police may now look into Shetty’s bank accounts to see if money from subscriptions to an app called Hotshots, which is related to Kundra’s firm and shows sexually explicit videos, was deposited in her accounts.

The criminal department has requested a forensic examination of Kundra’s accounts after discovering transactions into a Yes Bank account from Mercury International (a South African company that deals in online betting and casino gambling). Police have also used Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code to destroy evidence. Kundra’s bank activities, according to the remand plea, revealed he had received large sums of money that needed to be examined. On Friday, Kundra and his IT director, Ryan Thorpe, appeared in a magistrate court.

Raj Kundra, star Shilpa Shetty’s spouse, and businessman, and his accomplice Ryan Thorpe was brought before a Magistrate Court on Friday, requesting further detention for seven days. The Mumbai Police Department informed the court that money gained through pornography was suspected of being utilized for online betting.

The criminal department also wants to question Shilpa Shetty about her time as a director of Viaan, Raj Kundra’s firm at the center of the scandal. The alleged pornographic racket was run out of Viaan’s office.

Raj Kundra and a dealer were involved in a deal involving 19 pornographic videos, according to police. The Crime Branch informed the court that they think money obtained from pornography was utilized in online betting. Kundra’s laptop was seized, revealing 48 TB of data and 51 pornographic films.
