The Russo Brothers have chosen Priyanka Chopra over Deepika Padukone to play Captain Marvel

The Russo Brothers are close friends with Priyanka Chopra and would not choose anyone over her, not even Deepika Padukone. Citadel, Priyanka’s first web show, is being produced by the director duo. When asked to choose between Priyanka and Deepika for the role of Captain Marvel, they chose the former without hesitation.

Priyanka Chopra Instagram fan page shared a video from the recent press conference for The Russo Brothers’ film, The Gray Man, which she co-hosted with Dhanush in Mumbai. When asked to choose between Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone as the next Captain Marvel, they said candidly, “We have to pick Priyanka.” (We are) huge, huge fans. We have a great friendship. We’re working on something. Citadel, we’re working on a show.”

In their interviews, the Russo Brothers have always praised Priyanka. Joe Russo told Indianexpress.com last year about Priyanka, “She’s an incredible star.” I mean, I think she’s been incredible. We just finished a table read for the show a few days ago, and it was fantastic.”

Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, featured the titular character meeting the Avengers. In the 2019 film, Brie Larson played Captain Marvel.

Priyanka finished shooting Citadel a few weeks ago. In December of last year, she told Collider about the show, “There is nothing like Citadel on television, I believe.” It’s extremely high-scale, with extremely fine-tuned action and stunts, but it’s also a drama with heart. So, I believe there is nothing like that on TV right now, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to do it. You know it’s a commitment when you do something for multiple episodes.”

Ending Things and It’s All Coming Back are two Hollywood films in the works for Priyanka. She will also appear in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
