Then there was a time in my life when I wished I could be like them. American media played a big role in making this happen because of their power. It is now our turn; Asia is rising, and India and China are two countries that can cultivate their soft power to become major world influencers. That’s what the 76-year-old director of the project claimed.

According to a press release, he was speaking at the inauguration of a national seminar titled “Indian Cinema and Soft Power,” which was organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (CCR).

The function was also attended by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and ICCR President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, who were both present at Raj Bhavan.

Kapur emphasized the importance of technological advancement and stated that the industry must find newer ways to tell stories.

We must win the hearts and minds of future generations all around the globe if India wants to utilize film as a soft power instrument. We need to think about communicating our stories through popular media such as gaming while utilizing cutting-edge technology. “I’d like to see games with Indian characters dressed in Indian costumes,” he added.

On the job front, Kapur is excited for the release of his next film, What’s Love Got to Do With It?, which stars Lily James, Emma Thompson, Sajal Ali, Shazad Latif, and Rob Brydon, and Shabana Azmi, among others.

He will also direct the television version of Amish Tripathi’s highly acclaimed novel series Shiva Trilogy.
