Since its release on Friday, the popularity of Uunchai, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Parineeti Chopra, Sarika, Neena Gupta, and Danny Denzongpa, has increased day by day. On Sunday, the picture grossed an additional 4.71 billion. It currently stands at a total of 10,16 crore.

The Sooraj Barjatya picture began with 1.81 crores and increased by 101 percent on Saturday, grossing 3.64 crores. The film is about three old friends who climb Mount Everest with three other women to fulfill their deceased friend’s request.

film industry analyst Taran Adarsh reported the film’s box office performance throughout the weekend. He wrote, “On day three, #Uunchai touches uunchai… Glowing word-of-mouth has entered play… Superb trending on restricted screens/tight showing… A double-digit weekend reflects the effectiveness of content… Fri 1.81 cr, Sat 3.64 cr, Sun 4.71 cr. Total: ₹ 10.16 cr. #India business.” In another tweet, he added: “#Uunchai Note: 486 screens and 1282 daily shows.”

The film is a collaboration of Rajshri Productions, Mahaveer Jain Films, and Boundless Media. It is Sooraj Barjatya’s first film in seven years, after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015. It earned favorable reviews from critics.

Sooraj, who is known for family dramas such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and Vivah, stated that making Uunchai was liberating for him. In an interview with PTI, he stated, “In this film, I have shed all my previous trappings.” There was once a belief that if you named a character Prem, the film would succeed. But I have let that go. Everything was slipping away during the pandemic, so there was no point in clinging to anything. For me, it was liberating.”
