Kumar Sanu, Shailendra Singh, and Anand-Milind to receive Lata Mangeshkar Award
An official announced on Tuesday that renowned playback singers Kumar Sanu and Shailendra Singh and music-composer duo Anand-Milind will receive the National Lata Mangeshkar Award in different years.
On Wednesday (September 28), the birth anniversary of the late legendary singer, they will receive the prestigious award in her birthplace of Indore.
The Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2019 will be presented to Singh, whose distinctive voice in the 1970s and 1980s won him a special place in the hearts of music lovers, while Anand-Milind, who has composed music for over 200 films, will receive the award in 2020.
The official stated that Sanu, who contributed his velvety voice to numerous popular songs in the 1990s, will receive the award in 2021.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the final Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony was held on February 7, 2020, after which the event could no longer be held.
The culture department of the government of Madhya Pradesh awards the prize annually for promoting excellence in the field of light music, according to the department’s representatives.
It comes with a Rs 2 lakh cash prize and a citation.
Previously awarded artists included Naushad, Kishore Kumar, and Asha Bhosle.
