‘Boycott Adipurush’ trending on social media: ‘Bollywood’s Hanuman looks like a Musalman’
After “Laal Singh Chaddha” and “Brahmastra,” “Boycott Adipurush” has become a popular topic on social media, days after its trailer was released.
Since its announcement, anticipation for the Om Raut film “Adipurush” starring Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas, and Kriti Sanon has been pretty high. However, within a few hours of the teaser’s release, netizens began criticising the film for Saif’s “Islamic” appearance, unimpressive visual effects, and the clothing of the other cast members.
Comparisons are also made between “Adipurush” and Lord Hanuman from Ramanand Sagar’s serial “Ramayan.” Hanuman is portrayed in the film by actor Devdatta Gajanan Nage.
Internet users have asserted that Hanuman’s appearance in the film resembles Islamic garb.
A user wrote, “Hollywood’s Hanuman Appears to Be a Muslim #BoycottAdipurush.” Another individual remarked, “After 35 years, Bollywood transformed the ‘grace’ of the arrogant Ravana and Hanuman ji into that of the Mughals.”
“Hanuman in Ramayan. Note: No Hindu maintains a beard without a moustache. This movie must be prohibited… They are slandering the Quran. They depict Ravana and Hanuman with beards and no Tika on their foreheads as Mughals “added one.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra, reportedly expressed his distress at the film’s depiction of gods.
Mishra stated that Hanuman was depicted wearing leather clothing, despite the Hanuman Chalisa clearly describing his look.
“The trailer contains offensive scenes. These scenes offend religious sensibilities. I am requesting that director Om Raut remove these portions. If he does not comply, legal action would be taken “The minister was reported to have said.
The Ramayana is recounted in “Adipurush.” Raghav is another name for Lord Ram, which is the name given to Prabhas’s character. Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita), while Saif portrays Ravana.
The visual effects of Adipurush cost a fortune to produce. The majority of the film’s budget, reportedly over Rs 400 crore, was spent on visual effects, however it appears that the final product is not what the crowd anticipated.
