Masaba Gupta, according to Neena Gupta, would wonder why she ‘looked different’

Neena Gupta has spoken out about her daughter, fashion designer Masaba Gupta, who suffers from acne and has curly hair. The actress revealed that she took Masaba to several doctors, who even prescribed her acne medication. She also revealed that Masaba was concerned about not having long hair like her.

Masaba Gupta, the mother-daughter web series, recently returned for a second season. In the Netflix show, Neena and Masaba play themselves in a fictional story about their professional and personal lives.

The two were recently featured on the digital cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Neena told the magazine in an interview about Masaba Gupta’s hair and skin problems, saying, “Her (Masaba’s) hair was a problem, it was so curly we couldn’t plait it.” Her skin was an issue, and she would constantly look at my long, dark hair and skin, wondering why she looked different than me and her peers.”

Neena revealed Masaba’s childhood acne struggle, saying, “I must have taken her to every doctor in Mumbai for her acne, and some would recommend pills.” But I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of pills for such a young girl. There were days when her acne was so bad that she wouldn’t leave her room…”

Neena is a veteran actress who is currently receiving praise for her second stint in Bollywood and on OTT platforms. Masaba made her acting debut in the first season of Masaba Masaba and wowed viewers again in season two.
