NGO requests FIR against Ranveer Singh for his naked photograph and files a complaint

A few days after actor Ranveer Singh posed nude for a magazine, the Mumbai Police on Monday received a request to register an FIR against him for ‘hurting the sensibilities of women’ Last week, Ranveer posed naked for a Paper magazine picture session. In the majority of the photographs, Ranveer sat barefoot on a Turkish mat while striking various poses.

According to the news agency ANI, the complaint was filed at the Chembur police station by a representative of a non-governmental organization (NGO) situated in the same east Mumbai neighborhood. The complainant alleged that the actor’s images offended the sensibilities of women and insulted their modesty, an official informed ANI.

The complainant sought that an Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code charge be filed against Ranveer. “On Monday, we received an application from an NGO-affiliated individual. No FIR is currently lodged. ANI quoted an officer as stating, “We are investigating.”

The following day after Ranveer’s photographs were published in Paper magazine, the actor uploaded the images to Instagram. The photoshoot was deemed “courageous” by many of the actor’s fans and professional peers. However, many criticized it as “indecent” as well. Alia Bhatt backed Ranveer Singh amid the issue on Monday, stating that she cannot tolerate anything nasty said about him.

Ranveer Singh recently appears in the Netflix original series Ranveer vs. Wild alongside Bear Grylls. Next, he will be featured in Cirkus, directed by Rohit Shetty, alongside Jacqueline Fernandes and Pooja Hegde. The film, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, is scheduled to be released around the holiday season of 2022.

In addition, Ranveer has Rocky and Rani’s Love Story alongside Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan. The film is scheduled to be released on February 11, 2023.
