Alia Bhatt has revealed that the co-producer of her upcoming film Darlings, Gauri Khan, likes the film and that this is a “big win” for her. Alia stated that Gauri rarely likes anything and that liking Darlings made her feel relieved.
Darlings’ trailer was released on Monday, along with co-stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and director Jasmeet K Reen, who is making her directorial debut with the film. Alia also makes her directorial debut with Darlings, which will be released on Netflix on August 5.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Alia said of Gauri’s reaction to Darlings, “I was very happy that Gauri loved it.” I was thinking how grateful I am when Gauri Khan enjoys my films. When they called me, I told them that even Shah Rukh agreed that if Gauri Khan likes something, it’s a big win.”
Darlings is a Mumbai-set dark comedy. It stars Shefali and Alia as a mother-daughter team who abduct Alia’s husband, Vijay Varma, to teach him a lesson. Alia co-produced the film with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment under her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.
During the Darlings trailer launch, Alia recalled Shah Rukh telling her that he doesn’t usually co-produce films, but he made an “exception” for her. Dear Zindagi, a 2016 coming-of-age drama film, starred the two. “He (Shah Rukh Khan) said we’d have a lot of fun and enjoy shooting the movie.” “He recently saw the film and, in typical Darlings fashion, he messaged, ‘Thank you, Darling.
