Karan Johar has announced a film on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre will be the subject of a new film directed by Karan Johar. The film will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and will be based on true events, according to the filmmaker. Aside from the director, no further information regarding this untitled project has been released.

“This video tells the story of Sankaran Nair’s epic courtroom struggle with the British Raj to unearth the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery sparked the country’s liberation movement and is a monument to the power of standing up for what is right. The film is based on true events and is adapted from the novel ‘The Case That Shook The Empire,’ authored by Raghu Palat (Sankaran Nair’s great-grandson) and his wife, Pushpa Palat,” the filmmaker said on social media.

Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor will make her Bollywood debut through Karan Johar’s production business. Shashank Khaitan is set to direct this flick. Shanaya recently told IANS that she is “very enthusiastic and looking forward to filming the film.” I’ve done a few readings with my director and had a lot of conversations about my character’s brevity and breakdown of the scenes.”
