Madhuri Dixit Discusses Her Bollywood Career: ‘Didn’t Know the Feeling of a Hit Film’

Madhuri Dixit made her film industry debut with the 1984 film Abodh. In the film, the actor played the role of a bride, but his performance was unrecognized. While she appeared in several films, the 1988 film Tezaab brought her to prominence. Madhuri Dixit recently recalled the first time she was recognized in public while discussing her career.

Madhuri Dixit, who is preparing for her upcoming film Maja Maa, recently spoke with Pinkvilla about how she felt after her first successful film. The actor revealed that upon her release, Tezaab flew to the United States. When she returned to India, she was informed that the romantic drama was a success, but she had no idea what it meant to have a successful film. She said, I was told that Tezaab was a hit, but I didn’t know what a hit film felt like because none of my other movies had been hits that kind of reception.”

The actor added that two of her admirers had recognized her in public and addressed her “Are Ek Do Teen, Ek Do Teen, Ek Do Teen, Main Bolta Hun. Autograph, Autograph.” After being recognized, Dixit was elated and gives her an autograph. She added that her fans referred to her by her character’s film name, “Mohini.”

Madhuri Dixit was most recently seen in the highly successful Netflix web series The Fame Game. The actor will now star in the film Maja Maa, which also features Gajraj Rao as her husband. The film is being produced by Leo Media Collective and Amritpal Singh Bindra and directed by Anand Tiwari. On October 6, the film will be available on Amazon Prime Video.
