Karan Johar has asked the Delhi government to reopen film venues
Cinema theatres in Delhi were closed because of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases. Karan Johar has now requested that they be reopened by the Delhi government.
Due to an increase in Covid-19 instances, the Delhi government decided to close cinema venues on December 28. As a result, numerous film producers postponed the release of their films. If cinemas remain closed, it will have an impact on multiplexes, who are attempting to recoup lost revenue following multiple Covid-induced lockdowns. On December 30, filmmaker Karan Johar resorted to Twitter to appeal that cinema houses be allowed to open.
KARAN JOHAR REQUESTS THAT THE DELHI GOVERNMENT REOPEN THE CINEMA HALLS
Members of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) met with Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, on December 30 to ask him to reopen cinema halls in the city. Karan Johar has also made an appeal.
His tweet read, “We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with a better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings.
The movie halls in Delhi have been shuttered owing to the increase of Covid-19 and Omicron cases, which triggered a yellow warning under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Schools, universities, movies, and gyms have all been shuttered indefinitely. Various limits have also been imposed on the operation of stores and public transportation.
