Bill Lawrence and Jason Sudeikis confirm season 3 of Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso, the Emmy-winning Apple TV series, has been announced to feature 12 episodes in season 3. Bill Lawrence, the show’s creator, and Jason Sudeikis, the show’s star, both confirmed the news.

After its launch in 2020, the successful Apple TV series became a cultural sensation, garnering the most Emmy nominations for a rookie comedy series since Glee in 2009. Jason Sudeikis was named Outstanding Lead Actor in Comedy, Brett Goldstein was named Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Hannah Waddingham was named Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and the program was named Outstanding Comedy Series.

Following Ted Lasso’s Emmy victories, the cast and crew chatted with reporters backstage about what season 3 has in store. The cast and crew have announced that Season 3 will include 12 episodes, according to Deadline.

Ted Lasso had a ten-episode first season. Season 2 was originally planned to include 10 episodes, however, Apple revealed in 2021 that two more episodes had been ordered. The extra episodes diverge from the main plot arc of the show, focusing on the lives of the characters outside of the Richmond football games. Now that Season 3 is set to contain 12 episodes, the writers might opt to use those two extra episodes to expand the series’ overall plot.

Season 2 of Ted Lasso is presently airing, with the conclusion scheduled for October 8, 2021. Season 3’s writer’s room has just recently begun developing tales once the authors and actors were finalized with rumors of the series going beyond its initially planned three-season story arc.

Apple TV is hoping the series will be ready to air season 3 by summer 2022.
