BMC prepares to demolish Amitabh Bachchan’s house for road widening

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun enforcing a 2017 order to destroy a portion of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha Bungalow for road expansion.

Bachchan’s family has been notified by the BMC that a section of their Pratheeksha bungalow property would be purchased for the expansion of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg road.

In addition, the BMC has directed Mumbai Suburban Collector City survey authorities to demarcate the precise section of the house necessary for the road-widening project.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg connects the Chandan Cinema district to Link Road, which leads to the Iskcon Temple.

Tulip is a strong advocate. When questioned why the BMC’s work had been finished for all other properties but near the Bollywood actor’s, Brian Miranda, Municipal Councillor, told ANI that the major project had been stopped.

“According to the BMC’s road winding rules, actor Amitabh Bachchan was given notice of this problem in 2017.” Drainage was made by removing the wall of the property adjacent to Bachchan’s home. However, Bachchan’s home has remained unaltered.

She went on to say, “Why was the land not seized when the notice was issued? If it had belonged to a regular individual, they would have removed it right away under Section 299 of the Municipal Act, which states that you do not need to wait for a second notice of appeal.”

The lawyer went on to say that she was unable to contact authorities despite numerous attempts until she threatened to go to the Lokayukta.

“In February 2021, I wrote to the BMC. I did not receive a response, so I spoke with the ward officer over the phone and wrote to the commissioner, but I did not receive a response. Because there are two schools, a hospital, an ISKCON temple, and monuments in Mumbai, this is a critical project. Because of Amitabh Bachchan’s Bungalow, the winding road works was abruptly halted “she said.

“In February, I began agitation and follow-ups. I am overjoyed that this job has restarted after I stated that if this specific order is not followed and the notice is not completed, I would move to the Lokayukta “she continued.

Miranda went on to say that the authorities quickly prepared a city survey and requested a new property delineation.
