Rhys Ifans discusses his role as Lizard in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’

Rhys Ifans has received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the wicked Lizard in the Tom Holland-led superhero thriller ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Although the majority of his look in the film is CGI, he does make a brief appearance at the conclusion of the film without any scales or tail.

In an honest interview with SeetaGeeta, Rhys, who will soon play Rasputin in ‘The King’s Man,’ revealed the beans about playing the legendary comic-book character, Dr. Curtis Connors, and his experience on the sets.

To our astonishment, When asked if he had more pleasure playing the comic book character than the actual guy, Ifans answered, “Rasputin was more entertaining (to play). The Lizard is mostly a CGI invention, and it’s a fantastic one. But I couldn’t do anything about it. Rasputin, on the other hand, was entirely mine to play with.”

Nearly a decade after his debut appearance in Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ Rhys resumed his role as the biologist-turned-beast. The 2012 superhit film also had late Indian actor Irrfan Khan in a key role as one of the film’s villains.

Rhys remembers Khan fondly when questioned about his time with him, stating, “What a gentleman, as well as an amazing performer and ambassador. Before I got the opportunity to collaborate with him, I was a huge fan of his work (The Amazing Spider-Man). But, yes, it was a great loss for you and the film industry as a whole.”

currently topping the Indian box office, with receipts over Rs 140 crore. The film had one of the largest Hollywood opening weekends in India, grossing moreover Rs100 crore in its first weekend.

Meanwhile, Rhys will be featured in the next film ‘The King’s Man,’ which will be released in Indian theatres on January 14, 2022.
