Vikram Vedha bookings are slow; they trail Laal Singh Chaddha and Shamsher

Vikram Vedha

With less than a day until the theatrical debut of Vikram Vedha, advance ticket sales have begun. In contrast to the other film released on the same day, Ponniyin Selvan I, Vikram Vedha has not yet been able to make the cash register ring. According to industry experts, the film’s opening weekend receipts now primarily depend on the reviews and how much booking increases in the last hours of Thursday.

According to trade reports, Vikram Vedha has sold just over 2 crores in advance tickets for its launch day as of Thursday evening. The number pales in comparison to Ponniyin Selvan’s first-day advance ticket sales of over 12 crores in the same period. However, considering that south releases often do better on that number and Ponniyin Selvan is a larger, event film, it may be slightly unfair to compare the booking figures of the Hindi film with the Tamil feature.

Despite this, though, Vikram Vedha’s booking numbers are not encouraging. Currently, the booking figures for the film starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan are lower than those for films like Laal Singh Chaddha (2.8 crores) and Shamshera (2.5 crores), both of which performed poorly at the box office. However, it still has a few hours to close the distance.

According to trade specialists, the film can yet be redeemed by positive word of mouth. The initial response of critics and industry observers to the film has been overwhelmingly positive. According to sources, positive reviews and word-of-mouth can give the film the weekend boost it needs.

In addition, industry sources cast doubt on the film’s first-day box office forecasts. Various industry analysts estimate that the Pushkar-Gayathri film could gross up to 15 crores on its opening day at the Indian box office. If this occurs, it will be the second highest opening for a Hindi film this year, after Brahmastra. On the basis of current patterns, insiders from the exhibition side estimate that the film’s debut will bring in a maximum of 8-10 crore.

Vikram Vedha is a remake of the 2017 Tamil hit of the same name by Pushkar and Gayathri. In the original film, Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan appeared. Both movies are loosely inspired by the well-known folktale Vikram-Betaal.
