Brahmastra is off to a roaring start; can the boycott trend make a dent?

Brahmastra

Brahmastra, one of Bollywood’s most anticipated films, has received extraordinary pre-release ticket sales. The film features the real-life pair Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and has an enormous budget of 400 Cr.

The fantasy drama will premiere on 8,000 screens around the world on September 9. According to trade analysts, the film’s pre-release hype has been outstanding, and if everything goes well, Brahmastra might easily surpass 40 crores on its opening day. The Ayan Mukherji-directed film is anticipated to surpass the opening day records of Sooryavanshi (26 crores) and Bhool Bhulaiya 2 (14 crores). However, the opening day numbers pale in comparison to those of RRR (223 crores) and KGF 2 (134 crores).

The renowned movie office analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “VERY IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT… #Brahmāstra booking status… OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION from #PVR… The #BO is all ready for a FLYING START.”

In every way, Brahmastra is predicted to end Bollywood’s post-pandemic drought. Only two Bollywood movies were profitable in 2022: Bhool Bhulaiya 2 and Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. However, the boycott movement that is affecting the film’s box office performance is equally strong. Daily, the hashtag #BoycottBrahmastra has been trending on social media sites.
