Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine in upcoming Marvel film?

Hugh Jackman has fuelled talk that he would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wolverine!

Fans of the clawed X-Men character have been speculating about the actor’s probable comeback on social media, only two years after he appeared to have said farewell to the role in the smash film ‘Logan.’ After Hugh Jackman shared two intriguing photos on his Instagram Stories that hinted at his comeback in a future Marvel film, rumors flew.

On his Instagram Stories, the actor showed fan art of Wolverine by BossLogic, followed by an old shot of himself posing with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the studio now owns the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ film franchises. While the ‘Fantastic Four’ is believed to be part of Marvel’s Phase 4 release schedule, no mention of the ‘X-Men’ has been made.

According to reports on different web portals, Jackman suggested resuming his role as Wolverine, but in an Avengers film.

“Every time I saw an Avengers film, I imagined Wolverine standing in the center of them all, striking them in the skull. But it was like, ‘Oh well, that’s not going to happen,'” he told JustJared.com at the time.

The actor also stated that, while he believes his chances of appearing in an MCU film are long gone, he is excited to see a fresh actor take on the part of Wolverine.

In a recent Instagram post, Hugh Jackman hinted that he could reprise his role as Wolverine. On his Instagram story, he shared two photos involving Marvel, including a piece of fan art by Bosslogic and a photo of Jackman with Kevin Feige. Both of these pictures, as well as his homage to the late Richard Donner, may be found below.

If he reprises his role as the clawed mutant, he would set a new world record for the longest live-action Marvel superhero career. Hugh has played the Wolverine for a total of 16 years and 228 days, tying Sir Patrick Stewart for the longest time as Professor Charles Xavier.
