Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar performed a puja on the banks of the Ganga in Varanasi ahead of the release of Samrat Prithviraj. They posted photos from the puja on Instagram.

Varanasi has become a popular destination for filmmakers and actors seeking Lord Shiva’s blessings before the release of a film. Akshay Kumar was spotted performing the pooja on the banks of the Ganga just days after Kartik Aaryan returned from Varanasi following the release of his film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The actor is currently promoting his film Samrat Prithviraj and was seen in Varanasi with co-star and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar.

Akshay Kumar took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wearing a pink kurta and holding a prayer plate with diyas and flowers in it. Akshay wore a red tika on his forehead and performed a puja on the banks of the Ganga.

Manushi, who was dressed in a pink salwar-kurta, also shared photos from the puja. Manushi is seen praying in one of her photos, folding her hands, and closing her eyes. A large crowd can be seen in the background, both in boats and on the ghats. In another image, the Samrat Prithviraj actors were holding the prayer plate with a priest assisting them in offering their prayers.

The movie Samrat Prithviraj will hit theatres on June 3. The film, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the legendary warrior Prithviraj Chauhan’s love for Princess Sanyogita. Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar are also in the movie. In this movie, Manushi Chillar shows up for the first time in Bollywood.

The film’s original title, Prithviraj, has been changed to Samrat Prithviraj. Yash Raj Films announced the new title on Friday, following multiple discussions with the Shree Rajput Karni Sena, which had objected to the previous name as disrespectful.
