Amitabh Bachchan has officially announced that his grandson Agastya Nanda would make his Bollywood debut with The Archies, after much speculation. On Twitter, the iconic actor revealed that Agastya would appear in Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix production. Big B posted a fan tweet with a clapboard from the film’s shoot. Agastya’s debut piqued the fan’s interest.

Amitabh retweeted it, saying, “Agastya… A new chapter in your life starts, and there can be no greater delight among us all. My blessings, my love, and my best hopes for the future… Do your best… and keep the flag flying.” Shweta Bachchan Nanda and businessman Nikhil Nanda are the parents of Agastya. He is said to be portraying Archie Andrews. The film is also said to feature Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor.

On Monday, director Reema Katgi went to Instagram to reveal the first image from the film’s set, heralding the start of production. The image included a clapboard with information from the opening scene. The title has been written in the comics’ original typeface. Reema captioned the photo, “Archie’s #shootbegins #TigerBaby’s first solo production #partnerincrime @zoieakhtar @Netflix.”

For months, rumors about the project have circulated. Last month, leaked photos of Suhana, Khushi, and Agastya in what seemed to be their Archies outfits went viral. Suhana was dressed in a black dress with a jacket, while Agastya was dressed in a brown shirt and slacks. In her wig, Khushi stood out. According to the leaked photos, Khushi is portraying Betty Cooper, while Suhana is maybe playing Veronica.

The Archies will supposedly be set in the 1960s and will be a live-action musical that introduces a new generation to the fictitious town of Riverdale. Tiger Baby Films, Zoya’s production business, is co-producing the film with Graphic India.
