Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is described as a “dark humor laced satire” based on actual events Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta also appear.

Pankaj Tripathi starts in Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga, which will be released in cinemas on June 24. Sherdil, written and directed by five-time National Award winner Srijit Mukherji, also stars Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta.

On Wednesday, the filmmakers released stills from Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga. It is said to be a ‘black humor-laced satire’ inspired by genuine occurrences. According to the film’s description, it’s “a fascinating tale about the detrimental repercussions of urbanization,” “man-animal conflict, and poverty leading to a bizarre ritual.”

T-Series, Reliance Entertainment, and Match Cut Productions are producing Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga. “I was motivated by the genuine incidence of sad practices in villages near the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and I felt I wanted to depict it in my next,” filmmaker Srijit Mukherji said in a statement about his current production. It takes immense bravery to give one’s life to rescue one’s family, and my film concentrates around this heroism, with an emphasis on the battle between man and nature.”

“This topic is incredibly near to my heart,” Srijit continued, “and I believe it would spark the same sentiments with the viewers about many social concerns in our society.”

Srijit Mukherji’s earlier films include Autograph (2010), Jaatishwar (2014), Chotushkone (2015), Rajkahini (2015), and Ek Je Chilo Raja (2019), among others. Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is his second Hindi film, after Begum Jaan (2017).
